Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I book an appointment?

We request that you complete the client intake form prior to your appointment. This form is available to be filled out and submitted online, or it can be printed for your convenience. Submitting the form in advance will help ensure a smooth and efficient experience. Thank you for your understanding.

How do I prepare for the online session?

To get the best out of your online sessions, please follow this guide:

You will require a good quality internet connection.

Switch off or silence all devices or apps not being used.

If other members of your family are using the internet all at the same time, this may affect your internet speed.

Your laptop or computer needs to be on a stable platform with a microphone and camera.

The session is better on a laptop or computer rather than a mobile phone.

Ensure that you are sitting on a comfortable chair, not to be disturbed by family members or any pets.

Ideally have access to a set of headphones.

Sitting at a desk or table is ideal. Lying on a bed or holding your device with your hands or on your lap is not suitable.

If possible be positioned so that I can see your hands and torso with no backlight or window behind you.

Please ensure you have a secondary means of communication available in case we lose internet connection.

I will send you a zoom meeting code and password when we confirm your appointment.

How long will this take?

Many people attend with issues that they have had for many years.

I work on research based time frames which means that most issues can be dealt with to your satisfaction in 3 – 6 sessions.

Being an active participant and a desire to change is the cornerstone to success.

What will happen on my first session?

The first session may take up to 90mins.

To start the process of profound and positive change, I need to ask you a number of questions to understand the structure of your presenting issue. Once I have gathered enough information, then this is about taking action to get the outcome you want. This is not talk therapy, it is about taking action. The following sessions will be just that.

You will have the opportunity to ask me questions before you decide to proceed.

You will experience hypnosis on your first session.

How much does it cost?

To ensure transparency, all fees are clearly outlined on our homepage. You have the option to book a single session or to purchase a package of three sessions for your convenience.

Do you offer a guarantee?

As a Dentist along with other professional colleagues like Doctors, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, we do not offer a guarantee as it is against all ethical and professional codes to do so.

This also applies to Hypnotherapists registered with Australian Hypnotherapy Association.

What are your qualifications?

As a Specialist Dentist and Hypnotherapist, helping people is my passion and my career, as such, I hold myself to the highest standards.

My core hypnotherapy qualification is a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis (University College London, UK) and a Diploma of Modern Psychology (Au), The Mind Academy.

As a member of professional organisations I am committed to ongoing continuing professional development and peer group sessions.

Can I get a Medicare or private health fund rebate?

Hypnotherapy clients currently cannot claim sessions with Medicare. As a clinical member of the Australian Hypnotherapy Association my services may be eligible for rebates from your private health fund. Since terms and conditions of private health funds may change, it depends on your level of cover. Please check with your private health fund.

Testimonials

BARBARA

I’m a middle aged lady and I have bitten my nails for most of my life. Dr Hayfield felt she could give me therapy to help me stop this awful habit. In the past I had managed to stop for short periods of time but it never lasted.

I really wasn’t convinced one session would work but I’m so glad it did.  After having therapy in 2021, I haven’t bitten my nails since then.  I wished I’d had therapy much sooner but probably like a lot of people I was sceptical!’
