What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state we slip into daily, like getting absorbed in a movie, daydreaming, or driving on ‘autopilot.’ In this state, the emotional part of the brain (the limbic system) calms, and activity in the amygdala reduces. When this fight-flight-freeze centre settles, we become less reactive and more open to positive suggestions.

Around 95% of our behaviour is driven by the unconscious mind, the place where memories, feelings, and deeply learned habits are stored. This includes helpful automatic actions like walking or driving, but also unhelpful patterns like worry, anger, nail biting, smoking, or overeating. Hypnosis helps you relax, access the unconscious, and reshape the habits you want to change.

You remain fully awake, aware, and in control throughout hypnosis, with active thoughts. Every session is personalised and begins with a discussion of your goals, with most evidence-based programs involving 3–6 sessions.
